DRI INTERNATIONAL REPORTS SIGNIFICANT GROWTH IN CERTIFIED BUSINESS CONTINUITY AND DISASTER RECOVERY PROFESSIONALS IN 2014

-- Non-profit reports more than 12,000 certified professionals globally
-- Middle East and Africa fastest growing region, with nearly 30% increase
NEW YORK, January 21, 2014 – DRI International announced today that it has reached a record-setting, more than 12,000 certified business continuity and disaster recovery professionals, worldwide, representing a ten percent increase in certifications in 2014, and a 74 percent increase in the past five years. The Middle East and Africa experienced the largest increase in 2014, at nearly 30 percent, followed by Latin America at 17 percent, Asia and Australia at 18 percent, Europe at 12 percent, and North America at seven percent.
“The rapid growth we’ve seen over the last five years reflects the continued emergence of business continuity as a fast-growing, vibrant profession and a clear recognition of the importance of DRI certification as the industry standard,” said Chloe Demrovsky, executive director, DRI International. “Historically, the United States has led the way, and today has more than 7,000 certified professionals. Over the past few years, DRI has invested substantial time and resources on non-U.S. regions, including Asia, Latin America and the Middle East and Africa. We’re very excited to see that these regions are beginning to recognize the need for professional certification and training and that they have chosen DRI to help them get there.”
DRI offers a wide range of professional certifications designed for all career levels, from new entrants to industry veterans. Instructors provide comprehensive on-site training, as well as on-line continuing education courses that lead to the following certifications among others:
• ABCP (Associate Business Continuity Professional)
• CBCP (Certified Business Continuity Professional)
• MBCP (Master Business Continuity Professional)
DRI recently launched specialty certifications for healthcare and the public sector, as well as risk management certification. It also offers vendor and auditor certification.
“Our CBCP certification continues to be our core focus, but as the industry grows and changes we have advanced our educational efforts to reflect the current environment and industry needs,” said Demrovsky. “Business continuity professionals are a passionate group, committed to achieving the highest levels of preparedness and professionalism. We hold ourselves to an equally high standard.”
