The change in U.S. administration is likely to modify many aspects of U.S. policy (domestically and globally). The presenter will assess how this may affect resilience management issues such as climate change, ESG, and global supply chains. - Richard Knowlton discusses why once again "cyber events” have topped our list of importance in terms of threats to resilience. He will provide an overview of how he sees the main cyber threats and how well governments and companies are in dealing with them. - Steven Lei explains that natural disasters are a constant theme in our resilience surveys. He will cover the lessons learned in the LA fires, together with a wider perspective about what needs to done to better protect citizens and companies from increasing temperature extremes and other climate changes.

Scientific analysis of past and current knowledge will give some indication of what might happen in the future, but it is no guarantee of specific outcomes. Met with this challenge annually, the DRI International Future Vision Committee (FVC) considers myriad potential outcomes from a vast number of everchanging variables. For those who enjoy the excitement and challenge of rapidly adapting to new circumstances, 2025 will be your year. Those wishing for a period of calm likely will be disappointed.

One way of promoting our relevance to the wider business community is to look at what might happen and evaluate how well we can deal with it to minimize impact. Most professionals will have developed tests and exercises based on scenarios – these give realism, focus, and interest to our resilience programs. Predictions are really an extension of that – a look at the wider world and how such trends and possible events might threaten our ability to respond.

It’s never easy to predict the future. With the pace of change rapidly increasing, accurate predictions are ever more difficult to make solely based upon extrapolation of past events. In this report, we have tried to make reasonable predictions given our current knowledge, and the DRI Future Vision Committee has limited its predictions to those issues most likely to impact resilience professionals.
