DRI Unveils New Business Continuity International Glossary
Today, DRI International is proud to release the International Glossary for Resiliency, a new resource guide for the business continuity community. Its purpose: to promote a common, comprehensive set of universal terms, reducing confusion and enhancing communication across the board.
Download the glossary via the MyDRI web portal at https://drii.org/crm/login.php. Log in or register if you are a new visitor, and look for the glossary in the Resources section. It’s free and available to everyone.
The glossary is the result of nearly two years of conversation and collaboration between leaders in the profession. They poured over 2,189 unique terms from 22 different reference documents including regulations, standards, guidelines and industry publications, to select definitions that will become the standard in the industry.
“Clear communication is an essential part of what we do, yet we all have had experiences in which the same terms are used to describe different situations,” said Chloe Demrovsky, DRI Managing Director of Global Operations and Coordinator of the glossary project. “In a crisis situation, unclear definitions can be dangerous. That’s why a standard glossary is such a necessity.”
“The BC, DR, and EM communities will finally be able to look in one place and see a solid, world-class definition and the source of that definition to cite as a reference,” said Bobby Williams, Chair of the glossary committee.
DRI will host a free, informational webinar about the glossary on March 27 at 2:00 p.m. EDT. The webinar, “Why Words Matter: DRI’s International Glossary for Resiliency Unveiled, Survey Results Revealed,” will feature remarks from several committee members about the glossary’s origins, the process of selecting terms, and the results of a reader survey.
