Course Title: Young Leaders in Resilience Volunteer Day
Course ID: DRIF VOL
Duration: 1 Day Examination: No Exam
Cost: $100.00

Description

Join DRI’s Young Leaders in Resilience, the DRI Foundation, and Friends of Rockaway for a day of impact. This event will provide an opportunity for Young Leaders in Resilience to give back to communities affected by Hurricane Sandy. Many Rockaway families are still struggling to get back into their homes and return to their daily lives. All projects will be construction-related, ranging from small repairs to new rebuilds. This may include site preparation, hanging insulation or drywall, mudding, sanding, texturing, priming, painting, laying floors, hanging trim, doors and baseboard, and/or preparing the home for homeowners to move in. Due to the nature of construction and the varying skill levels of volunteer groups, construction tasks are not assigned until the week prior to arrival.

Objective

To provide volunteer opportunities for Young Leaders in Resilience and to help build resilient communities worldwide in cooperation with the DRI Foundation.

Outline

The DRI Foundation will provide transportation to the site from a location closer to public transportation (TBA), lunch, water, and a t-shirt for you to wear on the day of the event. A DRI Foundation representative will contact you with more information and for your t- shirt size.

The proceeds from this event will be donated by the DRI Foundation to Friends of Rockaway to support rebuilding.
